Ride Data Base - How to Contribute New Rides
Your Favorite Ride Not Listed?
There are two different ways to contribute a ride to this database -
Most likely you will use the first.
- The Casual - No Hassle Way
- Send an e-mail to Jay K.
with the following
information in any format you choose -
- Meeting place
- Length in miles
- Terrain 1(very hilly) to 4(mostly flat)
- Directions - so someone else can take the ride without your
being there to direct
- Any thing special about the ride, place/s to eat, etc.
- This ride can be a variation of rides already in the database.
- Your permission - if you'd like to be listed as a contact
- Your preferred e-mail address
- I'll put this data into a format similar to most of the rides already
in the database. And enlist other volunteers to map the ride so we can
get the terrain data.
- Then I'll send you an e-mail with a link which will allow you
to look at the ride description.
- Send another e-mail to Jay K.
with the following -
- Description of any problems
OR
- An OK to add the ride to the data base.
- Then sit back, relax and in a few days you'll see your ride
added to the various lists.
- Make Things Just the Way You Want Them - Create Your Own WEB Page
This might be considered the way for computer (not bicycle) geeks!
This method is only available if you absolutely insist!
- Use any method you want to create an html page with your
ride description. One possibility is to download the source file for a
ride already in the data base and then edit it to your satisfaction. Another is to use some WEB authoring software.
Cavaet - Embedded images, links to images you provide may need
special treatment.
- Send another e-mail to Jay K.
with the following -
- The html/htm file as an attachment.
- An OK to add the ride to the data base.
- Be prepared for several iterations of changes as I help you
make sure the description is complete, etc.
- Then sit back, relax and in a few days you'll see your ride
added to the various lists.
Hope the preceeding has convinced you that the process is really quite
easy. Your submissions are solicited and welcomed!
