The New/Revamped W2M Ride Database - April 2015 and Following

You are looking at the new W2M Ride Database. It comes with several new features, thanks to the encouragement of Larry B. and the help of Larry and Don G. It was put together over the winter of 2014-15. Thanks to Larry and Don for creating all the maps.

All ride descriptions now have their own link to their pages within MapMyRide You may want to join and make your own maps. It is at this site that you will find a map of each ride, an elevation cross-section where you can visualize the various up and down hills of the ride, and several other features. See for example the ride description for Warren Center to Cadis where the link after the Miles and Terrain data will take you to the map and its associated data. Additional detail is available at MapMyRide by following the full screen option (see the link represented by four diagonally pointing arrows in the upper right of the map). Once in the the full screen option, the grade of the climb segments can be visualized by clicking on the "Show elevation with grades" link at the top left of the Elevation profile. Notice that by moving your cursor along the profile you will see on the map where that portion of the ride occurs.

Some of the terrain data for a given ride has been incorporated into the corresponding ride descriptions. And this data has also been used to create new listings. You can now see rides listed/sorted by Total Climb,by Average Grade, and by Difficulty. These new listings along with those sorts which were found in the old database should help those planning rides to better judge how long, hilly or difficult a ride to expect.

The new ride database is launching with 42 rides, only half of the ones in the old version, but all very well suited to rides by the Wheels to Meals group.
